Would You Believe

So our friends Paul and Zelda came to visit and we decided to find some new places to go. We started far away at the Schenectady Museum where there was a special exhibition on baseball in the Schenectady area. Lots of old pictures and artifacts and Mike got the chance to see how fast he could throw a baseball - it didn't even qualify as a change-up (what is a change-up on a change-up?). There were also some interesting 'technical exhibits' on the past accomplishments of the various companies in the area.
From the museum we went further afield - all the way to Central Park to see the Rose Garden. It blew us away - a veritable sea of roses - all different colors - what? you want pictures - ooops did we forget the camera - of course. At some point we'll go back and get pictures.
The next day - a gorgeous sunny one (the only non rainy day in 2 weeks) we headed out to Schoharie county to visit an herb and vegetable garden place that also had a country store. Guess what - we forgot the camera, AGAIN. The 'garden' was very picturesque; on a hill with a pond at the bottom. Flowers, herbs and veggies all are grown (they supply the Niskayuna Co-op with some veggies). We walked down to the bottom of the hill to see the trained fish - yes when the fish hear/feel footsteps on the deck/dock they gather round - they think they will be fed. The country store was what you would expect, so we all bought stuff, then stayed around for lunch in a small pleasant room overlooking the garden and pond. We intend to go back in the fall to check out the foliage (with camera) and probably again in December as they do a Christmas themed 'tea'.
From there we moved on to The Old Stone Fort Museum which provides a history of the Schoharie valley going back to colonial times complete with all types of artifacts - extremely interesting.
A good day was had by all.
